Nichole Piccolo is a multidisciplinary artist working in drawing, painting, and interactive sculptural installation. Born in Xiajiang, Jiangxi, China, and currently based in Athens, Georgia, she is pursuing a BFA in Painting and Drawing at the Lamar Dodd School of Art at the University of Georgia, with a certificate in Financial Technology. Her work explores identity, relational roles, and multiculturalism through immersive, participatory objects that merge traditional mark-making with physical interaction.
Piccolo creates sculptural works that function simultaneously as images and objects, often incorporating rotation and spatial engagement as metaphors and connections to shifting personal and cultural identities. She primarily works with charcoal, gesso, and ink. Floral imagery appears throughout her practice as a symbolic language for relationships, emotions, and cultures across social and personal contexts.
Influenced by lived experience, multicultural identity, and immersive spaces and interaction, Piccolo is particularly interested in how viewers activate and elevate a work’s meaning through touch, movement, and choice. Her recent body of work integrates lantern-like structures, rotating frames, and globe forms that invite viewers to step into, look into, or physically manipulate the work, emphasizing perception as an embodied and relational process rather than a passive one.
Piccolo is the owner of Nicholeon Artz, a creative practice focused on commissioned art and design. Through her business, she has worked on commissions for Piedmont Athens Regional, Southern Brewing Company, and Athena Bar and Lounge. She studied abroad through UGA in Cortona, Italy Summer of 2024, a journey that has and continues to shape future creations. Piccolo is currently preparing for her BFA senior exhibition in Spring 2026 and plans to go into industrial/product design.
