Kongming  Lantern

This work centers on the relationship between interior and exterior. Particularly in what is seen, what is held, and what is reflected back. The act of looking into the piece becomes an act of self-awareness, where the viewer is both observer and participant. The interior holds warmth, light, and a sense of intimacy, while the exterior remains more reserved and less immediately accessible. This contrast mirrors how I often operate: what is felt internally does not always align with what is presented outwardly. The subtle movement of the piece introduces a sense of instability, suggesting that perception isn’t always fixed but can shift. Themes of being surrounded, held, or even embraced emerge through this experience. The work invites a slower engagement, asking viewers to pause and consider how proximity changes understanding. In this way, this piece reflects an awareness of how we exist within and around others.
